Meet Our Honoree
We are honoring reader extraordinaire, Tera Kirksey. Here are fun facts about Tera.
We know you love to read but what else do you do for fun?
Collect all things butterfly, spend time with family, and journaling and coloring.
Where is your favorite place to read?
In my recliner with my favorite throw.
What is your favorite snack while reading?
Jellybeans and chocolate m&ms.
Chocolate or candy?
Chocolate candy.
What is your favorite scripture and why?
Matthew 6:26: Consider the birds of the sky: They don't show or reap or gather into barns, yet Tera's heavenly Father feeds them. Isn't Tera worth more than they?
What got you into reading in the first place?
After receiving a bad diagnosis of not reading on my grade level, I read everything. I fell in love with Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mystery books.
What is your favorite part of a story?
My favorite part of the book is when I read and digest aha moments that resonate with me in a practical way. There's a life lesson in every book I read.
How do you decide whether or not to buy a book?
If the synopsis appeals to me. Some of my favorite authors I read regardless because they have a proven track record.
Do you write book reviews? Why or why not?
I try to write book reviews. I can't review on Amazon, so I try to always leave reviews on Goodreads. But I always leave ratings though. I know how important reviews and ratings are to the author and it helps readers decide whether to read or not.
What themes would you like to see in Christian Fiction?
I like to see real life issues presented from a realistic viewpoint. Like current events scenarios and how Christians should respond.
About Tera
Back some 47+ years ago, my eager fans were awaiting my arrival on that delightful Thursday. My arrival sparked so much love into this small city of Talladega, Alabama which is the home of so many attractions including my favorite Talladega College, the International NASCAR Racetrack and the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. I am the eldest of five girls. I have three children of my own and one son in law. I’m affectionately known as Nana to my two grandsons.
I love God and His Word. I attend The Worship Center where Bishop Van Moody is my servant leader.
I am a self-proclaimed bibliophile/bookworm. Reading has always been an outlet for me. After being told I scored low on a reading assessment, that sparked my interest in reading. I read everything. I loved reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mystery books. I read most genres. But I truly love AA Christian Fiction and biographies/memoirs.
