Courage To Shine

Pulled here, pulled there by so many things; then here comes adversity.

We all face adversity; it is a part of the life experience. Quite often, the first response to adversity is “why me?” On top of that, sometimes things happen, and they don't make sense, leaving you confused and angry.

For sure, adversity gets your attention and often makes you evaluate your priorities. But here's the great thing - you are not powerless. Take a deep breath and step back for a moment.

Adversity is not designed to halt your daily living or stop your gifts from operating. Adversity is designed to open up your gifts and abilities, to cultivate a more resilient you.

How you face and tackle your adversities make all the difference.

The story of Joseph is an excellent example of how to face adversity. The story which begins in Genesis 37, encourages and shows us how to be courageous in the midst of adversities.

Hated by his brothers, Joseph was sold into slavery by them. After that, he was wrongfully accused and cast into prison. Oh, that would have caused anyone to be resentful. But Joseph maintained his integrity, held his peace, and even had the courage to shine. He chose a perspective that empowered him. He did so, simply because he knew his future was in the Lord’s hands.

Like Joseph, in your adversities, you can find the courage to shine for God.

People need your light to shine in their darkness. Even when it's dark, rough and dreary in your live, someone's life is calling for your light. In your pain, people are looking for your light.

Just remember, you are not alone. God is working for your good. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8: 28 (KJV). He designed the process to get you to a place where you will be better.

Keep your eyes fixed on the Lord. Stay strong in the Word of God. Surrounded yourself with believers who will help and comfort you in times of adversity. Continue to pray and commit the situation to the Lord. He will make every crooked path straight in your life. Above all, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" Philippians 1:6 (KJV).
