Discovering Your Purpose: Key Ingredients

You are perfectly designed for your purpose. Find it. Embraced it.

It is your responsibility to determine your purpose. Thankfully, you are not alone, the Holy Spirit will guide you. Pray and spend time daily in the Word. These are the building blocks to understanding who you are in Jesus Christ. As you develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, He will reveal His plans for you. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 (KJV).

Ways to discover your purpose

1. Pay attention to the gifts that flow from you

Make a list of your gifts - skills and talents. Usually, these are guides to where God is leading you. Through your gifts, God will reveal more to you about who you are and your purpose.

2. Pay attention to the things that you are passionate about

Write down the things that you are passionate about. Yes, all signs of your God-given purpose.

3. Prayerfully listen to others

Take note of compliments about your talents. God is using His people to move you in the direction of your purpose.

4. Check out your dissatisfaction

Dissatisfaction is not necessarily a bad thing. God could be using your dissatisfaction to move you in the direction of that thing so that you can fix it.

Discovering Your Purpose - Key Ingredients

1. Prayer and reading the Bible helps to build your personal relationship with Jesus Christ

God has already prepared a path that you should walk in. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

2. Discipline

Be determined to discover your purpose. Do not let fear hold you back. It takes a whole lot of courage, perseverance, sacrifice, and practice. Staying focused requires discipline because there are many distractions and hindrances to fulfilling your purpose.

3. Endurance

Invest the time to discover your purpose. Sometimes, it takes months, years, and even decades for this to happen. Be patient.

4. Faith

Have faith in God. Keep declaring, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

Remember, your purpose is not just about you; it is about what God wants to do through you - for others and for your joy.

Do not let anyone convince you that your purpose is impractical or too difficult to pursue. There is a beautiful fragrance that is emitted when you walking in purpose. It’s attractive. I encourage you to shift into your purpose for the glory of God. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

So, what will you do with the life that God has given you?
